A dream run of a tournament overshadowed the team’s finale loss
Croatian Football team won many hearts over the course of FIFA football World Cup due to their hard work, determination, desire and they got the love, appreciation and respect they deserved.
Post the final match which France won by defeating Coratia 4-2, the Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovićsaid “On behalf of the Croatian fans, I would like to thank Russia for its cordial hospitality. You were great hosts. Thank you, Russia!”
Andrej Plenkovic, the country’s Prime Minister said “Congratulations to the French team for their great victory! We are also very proud of our heroes who made us dream. We are proud of the performance of the Croatia team who made a great match in the World Cup final. Thank you for this beautiful show!”
Millions of fans mobbed the capital Zagreb to give a grand welcome to their very own superheroes. The whole city was in red and white colours and people were chanting ‘Champions, champions’ which could be heard throughout the city.
The Zagreb city square was jam packed with enthusiastic crowds who were full of praise. Fans travelled from all parts of the country to celebrate and chant for their idols.
The country’s government even reduced the railway ticket prices to half, so that people could easily afford them and travel conveniently. The players passed through lanes on the top of a bus while fans cheered for them.
Although, Croatia lost in the final, their magical journey in the tournament overshadowed that. Luka Modric was awarded the best player in the tournament by receiving the Golden Ball.
A country with the population of just 4 million has showed the entire world what can be done when you have limited resources but a big heart and a desire to be successful.
