After Dum Laga Ke Haisha, director Sharat Kataria and Yash Raj Films’ Sui Dhaaga is based on the ideology of Make in India. The movie shows the journey from unemployed to self-employed. The story of struggle and the pride of entrepreneurship shows in the first glimpse. For the first time Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma share the screen together.
‘Mauji’ (Varun Dhawan) plays a tailor in this movie and he is married to Mamta (Anushka Sharma), who is typical small-town bride. Mauji takes care of his family on a meagre income. He does everything, he is asked by his employers and he cares for little when it comes to his self respect or self esteem. On the other side Mamta (Anushka Sharma) cannot stand for her husband being humiliated in public.
Mamta ignites the spark of honor, confidence and self respect in Mauji and she makes him believe in his skills and craft. The couple undertakes a journey to establish them and try to achieve success by weaving clothes. They deal with many financial difficulties and social situations to set up their enterprise. It seems impossible for them but the couple is unstoppable.
Not only the simple lower middle-class story but also the costume of Varun Dhawan, which are different kind of blazers and Anushka Sharma’s mismatched sweaters paired with affordable sarees represent a tale of rural setting with low income and nagging parents. With comedy and rustic humor lining the narrative amid an inspirational undertone and small town aspirations of achievement, the movie will surely strike a chord with audiences.
