In a valedictory function organised at the NCSCDA, Bhubaneswar, the Chief Guest Susant Mohapatra, IAS, Director, Department of Social Security and Empowerment of PwDs (SSEPD), Government of Odisha said that Skill Development Training is an important aspect of economic empowerment for PwDs. The tool kit provided after the training is a micro, but important initiative to revive self-confidence, boost moral spirit.  Many PwDs started their livelihood through their skills, expanded their business through various schemes of the government. The Department of SSEPD will provide every possible assistance for their empowerment.

Ram Kishor Sharma, Assistant Director (Employment), National Career Service Center for Differently Abled, said that family, community, government / non-government organizations should not resolve solutions to sympathetic problems or challenges to the people, but on the basis of empathy, awaken courage to face the challenges, must teach to settle problems. We are trying this.

Through the joint collaboration of the Government of India’s, Ministry of Labour and Employment, the National Career Service Center for Differently Abled, Government of Odisha, Department of SSEPD and Odisha Skill Development Authority, it was decided to provide free residential skill development training to PwDs from 2 months to 6 months in various trades such as DTP & Print Publishing Assistant, Integrated Course in Hair, Skin and make up, Repair & Maintenance of Personal Electronic Device, Electrician Domestic, Ornamentalist, Hand work Specialist Appliqué, Hospitality Assistant, Arc & Glass Welder, Repair & Maintenance of Windows & Split AC, Commercial, Metal & Cutting etc. This year 740 children are to be provided such skill training in the spacious and barrier-free premises of 4.11 acres of center including two hostels for 100 Boys PwDs for and 100 Girls PwDs, Career Library for PwDs.

In order to start some ventures on their own after the Skill Development Training programme, 12 Self-employment Tool kits were distributed to successful PwDs trainees from Ornamentalist, Hand work Specialist Appliqué, which are sponsored by the Paradip Port Trust, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. 41 successful  PwDs trainee were distributed Training Completion Certificate during the programme.

During the programme Sushant Mohapatra, Director,  Department of SSEPD, Government od Odisha was the Chief Guest, Ambika Prasad Patnaik, Under Secretary Department of SSEPD, Haramohan Maharatha, was the Guest of Honour. Ram Kishor Sharma, Assistant Director (Employment), NCSCDA, Bhubaneswar presided over the meeting. The programme was compared by J. Padmanabha Rao, Young Professional, NCSCDA, Bhubaneswar and Dr. Prithwish Ranjan Das extended vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and other participants.
