Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika to be released on 25 January 2019
The teaser of Manikarnika, the film based on Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi, is out now. A lot of stills from the sets of the film were leaked for the audience before the audience got to watch the teaser of the film which looks full of grandeur.
The teaser opens to visuals of India and the incoming ships where Amitabh Bachchan (in voice over) praises India as a flourishing and welcoming nation when the Brtish invaded. The scene shifts to the British flag being torn in a swordfight scene by Manikarnika (Kangana) as she decides to fight for her country.
The opening sequence is followed by grand shots of Manikarnika entering her palace. She is also seen riding on a horse and sitting atop her throne with a baby in her lap. Manikarnika is portrayed as a fierce commander with adept skills of archery and sword fighting.
On the teaser launch, producer Kamal Jain said, “We are delighted to present the teaser of the movie Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Rani Lakshmibai was not only a great warrior and an important crusader of our freedom struggle but also a fascinating person and through this biopic we will be showing her journey and with this teaser people will be able to get a small glimpse of that”.
Written by the writers of Baahubali and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Directed by Krish, the film stars Kangana Ranaut, Jishu Sengupta, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongappa, Atul Kulkarni, Ankita Lokhande and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub among others. “I am proud of this film, and of portraying a character which empowers and inspires. We have put in our heart, blood and sweat to make this film. Manikarnika will make every Indian proud,” Kangana had earlier remarked about the film.
