No casualties reported in Odisha with minimal damage at some places
Titli has made landfall off the coast of Odisha. The surface winds was recorded at 126kmph at Palasa in Srikakulam. Titli made a landfall today morning.
Trees, Telecommunication and electric poles were uprooted in several parts of Gajapati district affecting blocked roads and traffic. Few thatched houses were reported to be damaged due to the strong winds. Some destruction was reported In Ganjam too.
Presently Aska in Odisha has been receiving heavy rainfall. Vizianagaram and Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh were affected due to Titli resulting in eight deaths.
There has been no major damage reported so far. Odisha Government has set ‘zero casualties’ prior to preparation for any eventuality. In high risk zone, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) have been positioned and they have been alerted about the situation.
Flights and train services between Odisha and Andhra have been cancelled and diverted because of cyclone ‘Titli’. Five flights of IndiGo have been cancelled. Schools and Colleges have been shut till Friday and student union polls have been postponed. The cyclone is moving towards West Bengal and is expected to weaken gradually. The wind speed is also decreasing.
