Come witness the debate at Communiqué 4.0 at XIMB
With the advent of the digital era and widespread reach of social media, the line between Privacy and Media is getting blurred. The Supreme Court resolution on privacy as a fundamental right is a welcome step in this direction yet a small improvement over the state of affairs. A lot still needs to be done in order to ensure private data stays private and individuals do not fall prey to abuse, extortion and harassment.
To carry forward this debate, XIMB Bhubaneswar along with Digital Media Partner OdishaLIVE presents Communiqué, a high profile National media conclave on the topic ‘Media and Privacy: A Mismatch?’ on 3rd September 2017 at XIMB Campus, Bhubaneswar. The event will have industry stalwarts to discuss, debate and deliberate on this contemporary and contentious issue.
A brief profile of the esteemed speakers is as follows:
Jawhar Sircar, an alumnus of University of Calcutta , Cambridge and Sussex , has been an IAS officer for nearly 42 years , with 17 years experience in Finance and Industry. He also has a 14 years experience in Public communication.
He is currently the chairman of prestigious center for studies in sciences , Calcutta. He was a CEO of Prasar Bharati ( Doordarshan and All IndiaRadio). He supervised India’s public service broadcaster, which is among the largest such networks in the world and cover well over a billion people, through 483 stations of All India Radio (AIR) & DoordarshanTV). He was unanimously elected to be VP of world’s largest broadcasting body, The ABU. As India’s longest serving cultural secretary, he initiated long-pending reforms and took up the modernization of museums, archives, and libraries for which he was honored by British museum.
Shweta Shroff , currently the director of Biddable Media at performics and a top contributor at google adwords community. She served as an associate director at SMG convonix from 2013 to 2016. As an associate director, she played a major role in conceptualizing and building Helios, a proprietary Reporting tool from SMG Convonix. Apart from this she was also involved in Strategizing and designing paid search marketing campaigns.
She has been Invited for the Google AdWords Top Contributors Summit 2012 , 2014 and in 2015 . She also has been honored as a Rising star by Google AdWords Community in 2013.
Aditya Maheswaran, an alumnus of Anna University and ISB has been a prominent speaker at various platforms like Ted. He is currently ranked second in world championship of public speaking which culminated in 2015.
He currently holds the position of principal at KornFerry Hay group, a global management consulting firm. A consultant by profession and a public speaker by passion, he deals with Leadership and Talent space currently and has also worked as Strategic Consultant at Cognizant. He has been awarded with ‘Young Achiever Award’ for 2011 by Rotary for contribution to society. He has been invited by over 7 countries in the last year for professional speaking engagements.
Dillip Satapathy, an alumnus from Ravenshaw college in Chemistry started working as a journalist in 1985 .After a stint in Sun Times, an English daily published from the stable of Sambad, he joined Business Standard in 1993 as a senior reporter in Kolkata.He is currently posted as the Resident Editor of State Edition of Business Standard.
He figures regularly in panel discussions on various economic, political and social issues in various television channels.He has Received many laurels including “Satabdi Samman” as the ‘Best Journalist’ in 2005, “Swarup Jena Memorial” award in 2009, “Harish Chandra Buxipatra Memorial” award in 2015.
Sumrit Shahi is an Indian novelist, screenwriter and motivational speaker. He has written for 7 youth based shows, Sadda Haq – My Life, My Choice on Channel V India which won the Youth show (fiction) category at Zee Gold Awards in 2014 and at Indian Telly Awards in 2014 and 2015, Million Dollar Girl – From Banaras to Paris also on Channel V India Boyz on Big Magic entertainment, “Twist Waala Love”, “Secret Diaries” on Channel V , “BIG F” on MTV, ” Pyar Tune Kya Kiya” on Zing to his credit.He also has EkVeer Ki Ardaas…Veera on Star Plus to his credit.
He is the author of three novels, Just Friends, A lot like love…a li’l like chocolate and Never Kiss Your Best Friend. He wrote his first novel Just Friends at the age of 17.In 2015, he was chosen by Hindustan Times in the list of Top 30 under 30 young achievers in the country, terming him as a ‘writing rockstar of the young’
