Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated Odisha’s longest road bridge.

Named Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Setu, the bridge would help ease traffic woes of commuters between the twin cities Cuttack and Bhubaneswar by decreasing the distance by 12 Km.

“The bridge will stand as symbol of our constant efforts towards development of modern infrastructure for growth and progress of the state and our people” said the CM at the occasion.

Undertaken by the Works Department of Govt. of Odisha at a total cost of ₹ 114 crore, the total length of the Three lane bridge is almost 3 km. Construction began when CM Patnaik laid the foundation stone back in 2011 and finished in 2017.

The three lane bridge connects High Court Square, Cuttack to Trisulia onto the Nandankanan Road, Patia.

The bridge is seen as a tribute to Netaji whose birthplace is Cuttack.

Cuttack Collector Nirmal Mishra said “Traffic between the twin cities will be eased thanks to this bridge.”

Cuttack houses the state High Court along with the National Law University, Ravenshaw University, Anand Bhawan, Netaji Museum and other important buildings which attract foreign visitors and other dignitaries. So the bridge will be a catalyst to lessen the burden of traffic between the Twin Cities.

“After seven years Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are joined by another bridge” said Barabati Cuttack MLA Debashish Samantaray present on the occasion.

Among other dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony were the CM, Health and family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Chandrasarathi Behera, Cuttack Collector Nirmal Mishra, Anubhav Mohanty, MP Rajya Sabha, MLAs Prabhat Biswal, Prashant Tripathy and Dr. Pramod Mallick.
