Steel city Rourkela has huge resources of minerals, forest, as well as loads of talent. Young guns from the city are showing their talents in different parts of the world as we find another talented boy ‘Sumon Rudra’ who is currently living in Athens, Greece.  He resides there since 2014 after graduating from NIT Rourkela in 2012. Sumon is trained in Contemporary; he is also adept in other dance forms like Kalaripayattu, Bharatanatyam and Ballet.

Sumon Rudra is the first Odia guy who has a diploma in Contemporary dance from Greek Ministry of Culture. He performed with his team the “1st Bollywood Dance Academy Greece”  in ‘Greece Got Talent’, where they showcased Garba and Dandiya,  and they made it to the quarter finals. Rudra has choreographed the act alongside Dimitratou Anna, Artistic Director of the the dance academy.

OdishaLIVE asked him why he chose Bollywood dance, and he informed that Bollywood was never performed as a group act before at such a big show. Secondly Bollywood is one of the unique art forms in the world which represent Indian culture and traditions said Rudra. He is a teacher, performer in the 1st Bollywood Dance Academy of Greece; he was also part of the dance reality show So You Can Think You Can Dance season 3 in Greece, where he debuted as a Bollywood dance Choreographer, apparently, the first Indian guy  to do so.

“The act was appreciated by the judges. The whole act was prepared in just two weeks, and my team mates have done something which is amazing. They took leave from their job and their hard work is the key of our success” informed Rudra.

“For the next round will we try our best and hope will make to the final and win as well” he signs off.
