Honda’s solo Indian team – IDEMITSU Honda Racing India team rounded off the Round 4 of Asia Road Racing Championship by scooping up a double podium finish in the home soil at Madras Motor Race Track.
Amidst a packed house of more than 5000 supporters cheering for the Indian team, Taiga Hada, the 20 year old rider of IDEMITSU Honda Racing India in SuperSport 600 class scooped up his second podium of the season. Starting from 6th, Taiga and climbing the ranks fast, Hada’s race craft was at its best. Hada kept the His blistering pace and finished 3rd withthe second fastest lap time of the race (1.41:330 minute).
After the first podium of yesterday, Race 2 was a tough one for the young guns from India. The Sunday race of Asia Production 250 (AP250) saw Rajiv Sethu finished the race at 16th place, climbing 3 places on the grid but missing a point by just a whiskers gap. For Anish though, the injury took a toll, preventing him from pushing hard and finishing19th.
Speaking about Indian team’s power-packed performance inRound 4 of Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) 2018 in Chennai, Prabhu Nagaraj – Vice President, Brand & Communications, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Speaking on the Chennai round, IDEMITSU Honda Racing India rider Rajiv Sethu said, “Chennai was my home ground so winning my first point here made it all the more special. While I scored in Race 1 with first ever points, the mechanical issue with the bike from the start, plagued me till the end of today’s race. It was really difficult to push hard today. The race may be over, but the championship is on. And now, after recovery I want to continue to earn points in the next round in Indonesia in October. Before that, this weekend will be about consolidating leadership in Super Sport class of National championship”
Sharing his thoughts, the rookie rider in Asia Road Racing ChampionshipAnish Shettysaid, “Yesterday was a tough day. I couldn’t complete the race after the high-side. Unfortunately, a bad start in today’s race couldn’t be recovered. But I am happy that I could finish 16th among the best of Asian riders. For me, next weekend will be about extending my lead further in the Pro-stock category of National championship before I go to the next round of ARRC.”
