Mr. Kishanlal Agarwal, the Chairman of Bhartia Charitable Trust was conferred upon the degree of D. Litt. By the KIIT University at the 13th Annual Convocation held on 11th November 2017. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India honoured Shri Agarwal in the occasion at Bhubaneswar.

His citation read: “Sir, in today’s materialistic world, when ethics, religion and spiritualism are thrown out the window for a few thousand rupees, you spend crores to uphold the values and inculcate the religiosity and spiritualism in young minds. Your literally rags to riches story and rise from absolute obscurity to heights of fame made you to be an unusual businessman dealing with iron still having a tender heart to care for religious doctrines and its propagation through discourses, education and other charitable engagements.

Your belief in spending two fifth of your wealth for charity, religion, creating healthcare facilities for the people and the remaining for your family and fellow workers has made you special. Your concern to preserve the goodness of the religion and translating your concern into action has earned you several honours from several organizations. As a strong believer of lord Jagannath and Dharma, you have redefined Dharma not as bigotry, but as a way of life, which made you stand tall amongst the peers”.

Further, it should be noted that his organization Bhartia Charitable Trust has signed and MoU with KIIT University to jointly come up with the KISS – Bhartia Residential School for wards of poor brahmins in Puri. The first of its kind institute will be a KIIS like setup where students both Boys and Girls will be taught in the CBSE pattern. The institute will provide special free training to poor Brahmin students in Veda, Karmkand and Theology, especially on the Jagannath Culture. After completing education from this school, the students will be able to establish themselves as well trained and educated priests.
