‘Halijae America’ a video by Odia artist Anupam has gone viral on the internet. Anupam Nayak is an Odia artist in the US who teaches Zumba and aerobics to people on the tunes of Odia songs. Anupam is also the first Odia to receive international Zumba license from Zumba Fitness USA which is a network of large number of Zumba instructors from around the world.
Halijae America features fresh tunes from Asad Nizam and catchy lyrics by Arun Mantri. The track is sung by Sangram while it is directed by Anupam himself. The video features Anupam and his co-actor wife Amrita on the Boston harbour walk.
Anupam has been in the limelight for taking Odia music to the world through his engaging mix of Zumba dance and Odia Music. His last video featuring americans dancing to ‘Jai Phula’ an all time Odia classic was a big hit all over the world.
It is a novel concept thought by Anupam to integrate music with exercise. It is indeed heartening to see Odia artists showing a passion for our roots. Anupam has always been dedicated to Odia culture and his Odia origin. He further attempts to infuse Odia and Paika forms in his Zumba routine and take it to the western world.
