App to help learning for children and youth in mother tongue Odia
PraDigi, a learning app on the android platform is soon launching Odia version of the app on 5th September 2017 in the smart city. The app intends to help children achieve learning in their mother tongue. It is an initiative by national NGO Pratham which has been working for education of underprivileged children and youth all over the country for the past 20 years.
Pratham offers digital learning for preschool, Std 1 and 2 and basic skills for primary school children along with a variety of videos and games on English, Science and Math for upper primary school children. The content is available in more than 10 Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali & English.
The learning content is available free of cost for children and not for profit mode for wider dissemination and information.
Pratham is doing notable work in the field of children’s education and with the launch of this free app, we are foraying into digital learning. We hope more and more tech savvy students, teachers and parents will use and be benefitted by this app” said Mr. Dhanada Mishra, who is the state advisor for Pratham to OdishaLIVE.
The App will be available for free download from Play Store on all Android devices. All teachers, parents and students can use the same for basic learning of language, math, science etc. New material will be periodically uploaded and can be accessed from time to time It is hoped that the App will give a major boost to learning of basic skills by school age children in native language as well as English. The content is meant for android devices but some of it can be used on laptops and computers too.
Pratham organization, has received awards such as the WISE Prize for Innovation, Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, the Henry R Kravis Prize in Leadership and the CNNIBN Indian of the Year for Public Service.
