“We aim to make India Post customer friendly and spread information about various initiatives. Our goal is to revamp postal services and make it relevant in the contemporary times” says Dr. Santosh Kumar Kamila, Chief Post Master General (CPMG), Odisha Circle in a special interaction with Mr. Nilambar Rath, Editor-in-Chief OdishaLIVE.
India post offers various utility services. Instead of going to ten different places, one can deposit electricity bill, water bill, holding tax at the nearest post office. Another revolutionary service being offered by the postal dept is ‘My Stamp’ by using which one can commemorate a personal milestone or occasion by having a special stamp issued under their name.
The India Post already offers affordable parcel sending facilities by way of Speed post. Apart from this one can avail train ticket booking facilities at a post office too. One can deposit and transfer money instantly via the India Post Payments Bank. This is a new initiative of the postal department to encourage rural savings and financial inclusion.
A lot of banking functions were already provided by India Post such as savings account, recurring deposits account, Kisan Vikas Patra, Senior citizens savings account. Now to enhance the Digital India initiative, India Post offers ATM facilities that can be used at any post office as well as at any bank branch and ATM kiosk too. India Post offers life insurance, mutual fund and forex services too.
“India Post has plans to build a warehouse worth ₹10 crore in order to stock and deliver parcels of various e-commerce platforms via India Post logistic network. We also offer COD cash on delivery service for our parcels” says Dr. Kamila.
On the administrative front, Dr. Kamila has aimed to integrate close districts with respective circles to facilitate smooth functioning of postal divisions and the post offices under them. “We hope people appreciate our various efforts and use our services to their benefit” he concludes.
