CET, Bhubaneswar and Mother’s Public School, Bhubaneswar secured the winners title for this year’s Mettle Meet; each bagging a prize money of One Lakh Rupees under Senior and Junior categories respectively.

KIIT University, Bhubaneswar and Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar have emerged as the 1st Runners Up and 2nd Runners Up each grabbing prize awards of Rupees 50,000 and Rupees 25,000 in the Senior Category. Similarly, DAV Public School, CDA, Cuttack emerged as the 1st Runners Up and DAV Public School, Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar as the 2nd Runners Up winning the prize money of Rupees 50,000 and Rupees 25,000 respectively under the Junior Category.

Mettle Meet, initiated by Odisha’s home grown English daily OrissaPOST, started its journey in 2016 and held its third at Hotel Swosti Premium. Interestingly, OrissaPOST turned 8 years old with its glorious journey. Bhubaneswar saw an exquisite battle of the brains at the Quiz Extravaganza, Mettle Meet – 2018, where top eight teams from Junior and Senior segment were selected from an innate clash among 72 teams from 67 top educational institutions from all over Odisha. This year’s quiz started with 34 teams from 34 institutions under the Junior Group and 38 teams from 33 institutions under the Senior Group.

The finalists from the Junior category selected to fight out the final battle were Mother’s Public School, Bhubaneswar; DAV Public School, CDA, Cuttack; DAV Public School, Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar; DAV Public School, Rourkela; Blessed Sacrament High School, Puri; ODM Public School, Bhubaneswar; St. Vincent’s Convent School, Balasore; Ravenshaw Junior College, Cuttack. Correspondingly, the top eight teams clashing at the final in the Senior category were CET, Bhubaneswar; NIT, Rourkela; IIT, Bhubaneswar; AIIMS, Bhubaneswar; VSSUT, Burla; KIIT University, Bhubaneswar; Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, SCB Medical College, Cuttack.

Venkatesh Srinivasan, the celebrated quizmaster, popularly known as Venky, cheering for the winners of the competition said, “the contest of Senior Category has been a exuberent encounter. The questions of the quiz were extracted from diverse spheres like Science, Geography, History, Entertainment, etc. The excitement of the participants was as vibrant as the sturdiness of the questions”.

Apart from the main event, 42 complimentary prizes were distributed to the winners of daily quiz contests published in OrissaPOST giving the public ample scope to hone their minds and rejoice in the waves of knowledge.

The maiden edition of Mettle Meet started off with 18 teams in 2016 with College of Engineering & Technology (CET) being the winner for the year. In 2017, Mettle Meet saw a participation of 45 teams where SAI International School became the champs in Junior category while NIT, Rourkela bagged the Senior category Winners trophy.

The entire Grand Finale was LIVE streamed by Digital Media Partner for the event OdishaLIVE in multiple web and social channels. Other partners and sponsors for Mettle Meet this year were NALCO, Odisha Tourism, Acer, OMFED, TEAM Admark, Xpose Advertising and Nexus Consulting.
