Budget smartphone with premium processor and camera

Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has launched Poco F1 in India. Poco F1 is a budget-oriented smartphone which boasts of flagship level processing and camera capabilities. The base model comprising of 6GB RAM and 64GB memory is expandable upto 256 GB via a hybrid sim slot.

Flagship Features

The smartphone boasts of a 6.18-inch notch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2246 Full HD+ resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Powered by a flagship level Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor clocked at 2.8 GHz, the phone derives its imaging powers from an Adreno 630 GPU. For unmatched performance without any heating issues, Xiaomi has armed the Poco F1 with LiquidCool technology.

The smartphone comes in three memory configurations for the Indian market – 6GB RAM + 64GB priced at 20,999 and 6GB RAM + 128GB costing 23,999 storage as well as 8GB RAM+ 256 GB storage available for 28,999 INR. The smartphone comes with Hybrid Dual-SIM slots, for users to furtherexpand the storage by up to 256GB.

On the camera front, the Poco F1 features a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the back with AI scene detection and an AI-powered Portrait Mode for thatDSLR-like background blur effect.

The selfie camera has a 20MP resolution unit with IR Face Unlock. The company claims one can use the Face Unlock feature on the Poco F1 even in the dark and expect the handset to unlock almost instantly.

Specifications

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. The phone has kept the 3.5mm headphone jack intact which is mostly ignored by other flagships.

Poco F1 has a large 4000mAh non-removable battery featuring Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The quick charge function ensures you will not have to wait very long for the smartphone’s battery to be fully recharged.

The Poco F1 also comes with stereo speakers featuring Dirac HD Sound, dual smart PA, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. In terms of software, the smartphone will ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9 out of the box.

The Android 9 Pie update for the F1 is expected to be rolled out before the end of the year. The Poco F1 will also come in a Kevlar like armoured edition which is priced at 29,999 and has 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.
