‘Utkal’, the ancient name of Odisha stands for ‘the land of art and culture par excellence’. In fact, apart from the rich cultural diversity, ethnic traditions and artistic excellence today Odisha showcases rare and the century old temple architectures, Buddhist culture, a dynamic historical backdrop, vast natural sources and a number of amazing tourism attractions.
The recent tagline, ‘India’s Best Kept Secret’, which was used to brand Odisha during the recent Hockey World Cup hosted by the state, perhaps gels rightly with the profile of the land which has a lot of unexplored things to offer to its visitors.
Fairs and festival, rare traditions, classical and folk dance & music, art & crafts, tribal life, food and fabrics – Odisha has a vast variety of to add colour and flavor to our life.
‘Ama Utkarsha Odisha’ is thus a unique and humble initiative of Mumbai based Odia folks to showcase and connect these extraordinary elements of Odisha with rest of the world, especially with a focus to expose them to the new and digital age living in the metropolis.
‘Ama Utkarsha Odisha’, the event taking place at Mumbai for 2 full days, has a lot to offer the Odia and local visitors. Apart from Odissi classical dance, the agenda includes core cultural and folk forms like Sankirtana, Jodi Sankha, Thiapuchhi Naranga, Ghumura, Sambalpuri dance and music, traditional mask dance, Krishna Leela, and popular martial dance like Ranapa.
The event will also witness light classical and modern music which will be rendered by young and veteran Odia singers associated with Ollywood and Mumbai.
The visitors will also have the glances of unique sand art by Odia artists.
Cinema has been an integral part of our life and culture. Thus the event shall encompass screening of some national award winning films during the 2 days activity. The directors of these movies along with many Bollywood Odia personalities will be present at the occasion.
Smt. Droupadi Murmu, a leading woman leader and a well known tribal personality from Odisha and currently the Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand has given her kind consent to inaugurate the event.
A unique award and felicitation programme is also conceptualized on occasion of the event. The organizers take pleasure to announce that ‘Odishara Baraputra-Pride of Odisha’, a unique honour will be bestowed on four eminent Odia personalities like Padma Shree Jitendra Haripal (Rangabati fame), Padma Shree Sisir Mishra (Bollywood Director), Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand (Business Leader) & Shri Sanjay Das (renowned entrepreneur).

Large number of Odia people from Mumbai, eminent personalities from Odisha, Mumbai and other parts of the globe and many Mumbaikers will be visiting this unique and first and of its kind Odia event taking place in the Mahanagari.
A special corner for Green Awareness to promote plantation is going to be one of the key attractions of the ground.
