Virat kohli becomes the fastest captain to score 9000 runs, also hits 50th ODI half-century in the 2nd ODI against Australia.
Skipper Virat Kohli becomes the fastest player as a captain to complete 9000 International runs. He achieved this feat after scoring 22 runs while the 2nd ODI against Australia at Vidharba Stadium, Nagpur.
Kohli broke former Australian Captain Ricky Ponting’s record to reach this milestone. He reached this run mark in 159 innings as captain while Ponting took 203 innings to reach the same.
He is the 6th batsman to complete 9000 runs as a captain after Graeme Smith (220 innings), MS Dhoni (253 innings), Allan Border (257 innings), Stephen Fleming (272 innings) and Ricky Ponting.
Kohli also hit his 50th ODI half-century in this match. He has scored over 10500 runs in ODIs with a brilliant average of over 59.
India scored a total of 250 runs before getting all out in the 49th over with Kohli contributing 116 runs to it. Aussies need 251 runs to win the 2nd ODI match of the series which is India leads by 1-0.
