A nerve racking triple tie ensued for the first time in the history of Mettle Meet Senior Category between KIIT University, Bhubaneswar and CET, Bhubaneswar. The latter reserved the Winners title once again at Mettle Meet 2018 after 2016. Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar became the 2nd Runners Up in the Grand Finale held today, at Hotel Swosti Premium. The prize money for the 2nd and 3rd position is Rupees 50 Thousand and 25 Thousand respectively.

The 3rd edition of Mettle Meet, which started its journey in 2016, initiated by Odisha’s home grown English daily OrissaPOST was held today at Hotel Swosti Premium. After an intense competition in the prelims of the Mettle Meet which was held on 31st March, 8 teams from Senior category were selected. The finalists in the Senior category selected to contest the ultimate tussle were CET, Bhubaneswar; NIT, Rourkela; IIT, Bhubaneswar; AIIMS, Bhubaneswar; VSSUT, Burla; KIIT University, Bhubaneswar; Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar; SCB Medical College, Cuttack. This year’s quiz took place with 38 teams from 33 institutions challenging each other under the Senior Group.

Venkatesh Srinivasan, the celebrated quizmaster, popularly known as Venky, cheering for the winners of the competition said, “the contest of Senior Category has been a exuberent encounter. The questions of the quiz were extracted from varied subjects like Science, Geography, History, Entertainment, etc. The excitement of the participants was as vibrant as the sturdiness of the questions”.

Ms. Adyasha Satpathy, CEO, OrissaPOST commending the winners of the Senior Group said, “Mettle Meet has given worthy and competing students a single platform to come together and let them bask in the triumph of enormous knowledge that flows through discussion and reading”.

The maiden edition of Mettle Meet started off with 18 teams in 2016 with College of Engineering & Technology (CET) being the winner for the year. In 2017, Mettle Meet saw a participation of 45 teams where NIT, Rourkela became the victors in Senior category.

This year the team members for CET, Bhubaneswar were Mukti Swaroop Pradhan, Baibaswata Jena, Kumar Saisesh Mishra and Debabrata Pramanik. Similarly, the participants of KIIT University, Bhubaneswar were Sugata Mukherjee, Alankar Devta, Sharzad Al Haque and Prakhar Saini. The team from Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar consisted of Toyada Pattanaik, Sourav Kumar, Ritwik Tripathy and Harsh.
