The two-day National Children’s Literary Festival (NCLF) was kicked off today at KiiT International School. Organized by Kloud 9’ this is the fifth edition of the festival. NCLF is the flagship event of Kloud9.

The festival is first of its kind to be   hosted by a School and exclusively for Children. KIIT International School has been holding the Children’s Literary Festival since 2013.

NCLF has become the most loved and exhilarating Children’s Festival around. Past editions of the festival have witnessed greater enthusiasm and participation. About five hundred students from 35 schools have taken part in the festival..

Padma Bhushan Ruskin Bond, Chief Adviser of the festival and a galaxy of eminent authors, publishers, storytellers, cartoonists and illustrators, including Prajwal Parajuly, Arup Bose, Ameen Haque and Ajit Narayan graced the occasion.

There was an array of talks, cartooning and photography workshops, panel discussion and vocabulary sessions. While Mr. Bose explained what makes a best seller, Mr. Prajwal contested the importance of Publisher. Mr. Haque weaved magic through his stories. Book reading session by Ruskin Bond stole the show.

National Children’s Literary Festival was graced by National Award winning film director Nila Madhab Panda, who showcased  his upcoming film, “Kadvi Hawa”. Sanjai Mishra, Ranvir Shorey and Manish Mundra, who have acted in the film, too were present

Bhubaneshwar based standup comedy group Bhubaneshwar Komedians staged a humourous, rib-tickling performance. The acclaimed theater group from Mumbai, Rangbaaz was back again at NCLF this year. They staged   “Jungle Book 2” based on Rudyard Kipling’s famous story about Mowgli and his adventures.

News paper collections from 1947 were displayed for the students. The participants also learned sixty words in thirty minutes through Bollywood songs.

The two day literary Festival was a bonanza for the students. ‘Such festivals instill confidence in young minds and motivate them towards   literature’, said Prof. Achyut Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS.
