The MoU was signed at the Ethiopian cultural centre in the presence of Mr.Vikramjit Singh Rooprai, a renowned heritage and culture activist from Delhi.

To enhance the relations between African students and Indian youth, Jai Odisha – a voluntary youth organisation from Bhubaneswar has signed an MoU of cooperation, support and cultural exchange with Association of African Students in India (AASI). The MoU was signed at the Ethiopian cultural centre in the presence of Mr.Vikramjit Singh Rooprai, a renowned heritage and culture activist from Delhi.

“India and Odisha have a deep-rooted and ancient relationship with Africa and we are very similar both culturally and socially. We are one world and one family hence there should be more scope for cultural and social interaction especially with African students. Through this historic MOU, Jai Odisha and Association of African Students in India (AASI) aim to create a healthy platform for Indian & African youth to collaborate and succeed in their fields of study”,said Mr.Rudra Narayan Samantaray, Founder & President of Jai Odisha.

“The sign of this MOU has come from long relationship between AASI and Jai Odisha which shows that understanding has been established between both associations to work towards student welfare and cultural exchange to build unity among both Indian and African community living in India .”opined Mr.Ntambwe Ngongo,President of AASI.

Under the MOU Jai Odisha shall provide a facilitation point for African students studying in Bhubaneswar, it would also aid in providing communication in case of an emergency, involvement of African students as interns and youth leaders in the community based programmes run by Jai Odisha. Further Jai Odisha shall also be supportive of any cultural activity that AASI wishes to conduct in Bhubaneswar.

“We believe that rather than destroy bridges and build barricades, we should remove barricades and strengthen ties. AASI have in the last few years worked hard to ensure the welfare of African Students in India and by extension the global student community in a bid to build a better world as we share in the philosophy of Vasudheva Kutumbhakam, we are very delighted and boosted by this Union with Jai Odisha” Says Mr.Ezeugo Nnamdi Lawrence, General Secretary of AASI.

Heritage Activist and Educator, Vikramjit Singh Rooprai said, “Africa has historic ties with India, from ancient trade to education exchange both regions have benefited from each other for thousands of years. It is great to see that an organization like Jai Odisha has stepped up to continue this historic relation and strengthen it further.”

Deputy Public Relations Cordinator Miss FavourIwoni from AASI and Founding member of Jai Odisha, Mr.Badri Narayan Samantaray were also present on the occasion. The organizers Jai Odisha also thanked the Ethiopian Ambassador for his support towards this signing of the MOU between AASI & Jai Odisha.
