He was taken into custody by Pakistan on Wednesday after he landed on the other side of the Line of Control as his aircraft crashed during an aerial fight between India and Pakistan. This is a historic event as for the first time in history an army man is safely being sent back to his country within 36 hours of arrest.
Son of Retired Air Marshall Simhakutty Varthaman and Dr. Shobha Varthaman, who also worked as Doctor without borders, has joined army as a fighter pilot in 2004.
In a video released by Pakistan Information Ministry he was seen sipping tea and answering some questions and sharing his experience under Pakistan’s custody. To most of the questions he answers very bravely that he is not supposed to reveal those facts to them. This shows his bravery and love for his country.
