Rakhi tying program to celebrate brotherhood
The Odia Society of Singapore celebrated ‘Rakshabandhan 2018’ in association with Hindu Centre Singapore.The theme of the event was ‘Celebration of the Beauty of Odisha’ through its beckoning landscape and villages, spirit of tribal life and rich culture!
Ms. Indranee Raja, MP, Cabinet Minister in Government of Singapore was the Guest of Honour for the function. A rakhi tying program was held to celebrate the spirit of brotherhood.The event attended by more than 300 Indians.
A dance team of 9 from the Odia Society featuring 5 men and 4 women performed on the occasion.There were more than 50 Odia society members to encourage the dancers.
Various other Indian dance performances were also showcased in this cultural event and the Odia folktale dance was highly appreciated by event attendees.
The Odia performers were led by Swagatika Mishra (choreographer and lead) including LagnajitPattnaik, Sujit Kumar Barik, Sura Narayana Das, PratyushHota, Lopamudra Behera, PushpitaPattnaik, ReelaPatro, Swagatika Biswal and Debolina Das.
The entire event was coordinated by Dr Bijayalaxmi Mohanty and Sarmistha Mohanty.
