Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT-B) observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2018, from 29th October to 3rd November 2018 as mandated by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

To commemorate this celebration a special lecture was organized in the Community Centre of the Institute on 2nd November 2018.  At the beginning of the Programme, Prof. R. K. Panda, the CVO of the Institute, introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjeeb Panda, IPS.

The Director, Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. In his speech the Director reiterated that probity and transparency are the two key parameters to be followed by one and all.

He mentioned that IIT system is known for transparency and ethical standards, while contributing to nation building.  He called upon the faculty and staff members to be honest in their individual positions and contribute to the best of their abilities as a part of self-vigilance.

The special lecture was delivered by Mr. Sanjeeb Panda, IPS, Commissioner-cum-Chairman, State Transport Authority of Odisha. It was participated by large number of faculty, staff and students. Mr. Sanjeeb Panda gave detailed statistics of India’s position in the corruption index of the world and informed that the position is improving in the recent times.  He reiterated that change of technology has a critical impact on curbing corruption.

Mr. Panda also mentioned that State Transport Department is coming out with various models of digitalization of transport system of the State to check corrupt practices. He urged IIT Bhubaneswar to be more proactive in helping the Government in proper implementation of technological innovations to establish a transparent system.
