The 5th IT Conclave organised by ITAO held at a city hotel recently witnessed a congregation of Government Departments, Private Players in the IT Industry, Global IT giants, Media persons, Students and general public among others.

Information Technology Association of Odisha (ITAO) organised this conclave for a broad based discussion on the main theme ‘Smart City Smart Link’. The Conclave saw a brain storming of the best of IT solutions providers, Consumers, Government representatives and Entrepreneurs in the IT sector.

Local Flavour in Global Time

Chief Guest of the Inaugural session Mr. Ashok K. Meena, Principal Secy Electronics & I.T. Govt. of Odisha lauded the forward looking Odisha Start up Policy which aims to nurture young professionals in the techno savvy world in order to develop indigenous world class products and solutions. “The society changes very fast, in order to keep pace with the needs of the local people, companies should hire local people to develop people friendly solutions” he said.

President Speaks

ITAO President Soubhagya Routray while greeting the delegates and audience outlined the past success of the conclave and shared a vision for the future. He outlined the fact that IT solutions can become an employment hub in itself due to its vast application potential. On behalf of the ITAO, he proposed the Government to come up with a full fledged IT Mall in Bhubaneswar following the likes of countries like Taiwan, Canada, USA etc wherein all IT solutions would be under one roof for the ease of business and consumers alike.

 Smart City needs Smart People

Special Guest of the session Dan Mishra, Chairman CSDC opined that the investors and business people should not rely too much on the government and strive to set up infrastructure on their own. “You do not need 500 persons to manage a government project. I can do it within 50 people. Our teams at Bhubaneswar, Noida and Bangalore have less than 50 people each but they handle operations at places as far as Nigeria and Senegal. We set up a wholly digital tax collection solution in Nigeria in under 6 weeks and within 6 months, the cash strapped Nigerian Government was able to raise 125% more revenue. The gains thus collected were used for upgrading the public service facilities” he said.

Affordable Technology is the need of the Hour

Guest of Honour Dr. Omkar Rai, DG STPI, Govt. of India stressed that technology should be made affordable to make it accessible to all the consumers. “Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies should be made available at a lower cost to develop indigenous technology. We are working with the local and National Govt. to implement a 22 crore project for an IT & Elctronics centre in Odisha. IT is good to see ITAO working in tandem to fulfil the growth of IT & Elctronics sector” he further said.

The inaugural session saw Guest of Honour, Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra giving away the mementos to all the partners of ITAO IT Conclave for their support.
