Annual Function of Hospitality Training Institute to be held on 28 February 2018

Swosti Institute of Management and Social Studies is a marquee project of Swosti Educational Foundation. SIMSS is a brainchild of Swosti Group CMD JK Mohanty. Swosti Group being a leader in hospitality and being Odisha’s own home grown hospitality giant is a force to reckon with. The Swosti Group which includes premium properties around Odisha with plush hotels and majestic resorts is a major game changer in the industry.

SIMSS provides students a career in Hotel management and Tourism. With more than 300 students in the current batch and more than 250 students enrolled under the flagship skilling initiative of the Govt. called Hunar Se Rozgar Tak, the institute is driven towards contributing to the hospitality and tourism industry. In the words of SIMSS Principal Aseema Panda, “We do the task of taking a person who doesn’t even spell his name correctly to mentoring and polishing them into taking care of international guests.”

SIMSS Principal Aseema Panda has a master’s from Ravenshaw University and has done Hotel Management from IHM, Bhubaneswar in the year 1992.She got trained with the Oberoi Hotels and then proceeded to start her career with the five star property of Fariyas, Lonavla. She has been active in the field of education since last 25 years with special mention to IHM Gwalior, IHM Bengaluru and Frankfinn among others.

“With a team of intellectual, experienced and knowledgeable faculty members and Swosti group at the back drop, it is not difficult to churn out excellent work force coming from various backgrounds. It always amazes me the transformation my students go through in such a small span of their curriculum. We take pride in positioning deserving talent in right place. Our students with their handwork and our faculty member’s proper guidance and effort has let to 100% placement of our wards in prestigious enterprises like TAJ Hotels, ITC, Swosti Group, Park Hyatt and Carnival Cruise, Florida, USA among many others” Ms. Panda adds.

“It was my dream to provide world class hospitality services and attract foreign tourists to the Jewel of India that is Odisha and to have world class guests you also need top class talent. We always have felt that there is a huge gap in the education that is imparted in catering colleges and our Industry, that is how SIMSS was born” says Swosti Group CMD JK Mohanty.

With 11 permanent faculty members and more than 10 visiting faculty, the institution provides more than 10 courses in both Degree and Diploma levels like Travel and Tourism Management, Master in Hotel Management and certificate courses in Food and Beverage (F&B) and Bakery.

“This year we plan to add rising demand courses like Culinary Art, Bartending and Food photography which is popular as Foodography. Since we add the words Social Studies, we will also add courses like Master in Hotel Management and MSW in future” informs Ms. Panda.

Sibam Prasad Tarai, a student of BHM 2017 batch says “SIMSS has enabled me to discover myself as a professional. Its well-equipped labs; guidance of expert teachers with all of the best facilities has made my professional transformation an excellent one.”

“We enjoyed our student life in SIMSS with tremendous exposure to the industry through SWOSTI Group of Hotels. Thanks to my college for giving opportunities which have changed my life completely” says Satarupa Mohanty who is presently working with Carnival Cruise, USA.

The Annual function will see students getting awards in various categories while guests like OSDA Chairman Subroto Bagchi and Principal Secy. Tourism, Govt. of Odisha Dr. Mona Sharma along with Swosti group CMD JK Mohanty and SIMSS Principal Aseema Panda are set to attend the function with other invited dignitaries.
